Ahmed Zaidan returned from New York to Saudi Arabia in 2004 to found edgearch, and since then has been in the position of President and Lead Designer. Over the years the firm has grown from a single person firm to one of the country’s leading young firms with several billion Saudi Riyals worth of projects value.

Ahmed Zaidan is currently leading an international team of consultants for the master planning and complete re-design for Abha Regional Hub Airport, in Abha, Saudi Arabia. A few years ago, he led an international consortium to master plan and design a greenfield airport in Jazan, Saudi Arabia,

the King Abdullah Airport. Ahmed Zaidan was lead designer on all major landside project components. Prior to that, Ahmed Zaidan led and designed the King Fahad Specialist Hospital Oncology Center in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. He is currently leading the design for Taif Children Hospital,

a 300-bed hospital in Al-Taif, Saudi Arabia, and winner of the Best Hospital of the Future Award.
On the line of healthcare facilities, Ahmed Zaidan lead and designed the expansion to the Saud Al-Babtain Cardiac Center in Dammam,

Saudi Arabia, and as well as overseeing the office progress for the
Tower Expansion project for the International Medical Center in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
In addition to Ahmed Zaidan’s leadership in aviation related projects such as King Abdullah Airport and Abha Regional Hub Airport, Ahmed Zaidan oversaw the designs for Al-Baha Airport, developed the designs for Saudi Arabia’s first economic airport in Al-Qunfutha, and has collaborated with One Works, Italy, to put together a design concept for the new terminal facility in Prince Mohammed Bin Abdulaziz (Madina) Airport for the Saudi- Malaysian Consortium bidding on the BTO project.
On the line of educational and research facilities, Ahmed Zaidan lead and designed the College and Deanship for Distance Learning at King Abdulaziz University, a 48,500 square meter facility in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The first of its kind facility in the country shall house exam facilities for more than 4,000 students as well as various high-tech labs and curriculum preparation studios. He is currently leading the designs for King Saud University Advance Manufacturing Institute Building and the Sustainable Energy
and Technology Center, both facility are the first of their kind high-tech research facilities.

Additionally, Ahmed Zaidan is leading a consortium between Edge and Architecture Studio, Paris, France, to design King Abdulaziz University Convention and Media Center which contains an Exhibition and Conference Center, a Media Center and Studios, and two office towers of 15 floors, at a total project built area of 56,000 square meters.

Ahmed Zaidan has led many other types of projects such as residential, cultural, and diplomatic projects such as the competition winning contract with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to design the Saudi Arabia Consulate, Residence, and School Complex in Karachi, Paksitan. Prior to returning to his home country, Ahmed Zaidan had returned to work with the firm Rogers Bergun Shahine and Deschler (RBSD), NY, from 2003 to 2004, a firm he had previously worked for many years as an intern architect. During that year, Ahmed worked as Project Architect on the residence of the Emir of Qatar in New York, led a competition design team for the master planning of Hamad Medical City in Doha, and prepared various designs for Hospitals. From 2000 to 2003 Ahmed Zaidan worked as a Project Architect and a Project Manager for the firm Rafael Vinoly Architects, NY. As Project Architect he worked on one of the most prestigious and major research institute projects in the world, The Howard Huges Medical Institute headquarters and research campus in Virginia, USA. He also participated in the design and production of large scale projects such as the Pittsburgh Convention Center and the competition for the Oslo Opera House, Norway.

In his current role of President of edgearch, Ahmed Zaidan is in charge of contractual, administrative, and financial aspects of the firm.
As Lead Designer, he oversees all aspects of design and engineering, and personally leads edgearch management team in any international consortium or joint venture.
